Hello! Today was a busy day. It was Jordan’s and my first day (actually) working on the Porsche.
I had to get up at ~8:15, since we (he) wanted to start at the latest at 8:30 – which we did, with only a delay of 5 minutes.
What did we do today? First we did put the car up on jack-stands (it was the first time any of us did this, so this took about 1 hour.) It took us like 2 attempts per side, and we only damaged one small thing once. So pretty good.
2nd, we wanted to remove the fuel-tank. Turns out, we weren’t really able to, because of skill issue. Another 2 hours gone. (The problem was, that they glued everything together, and we weren’t able to get all covers off, so problems and shit -> didn’t come off.)
3rd, we cleaned the bottom of the hood, since it had some isolating material, which was breaking in a lot of small pieces. So we removed this, and then had to clean to bottom of the hood, since it had a small glue layer on it.
Then it was time time for lunch – just some bread and things on top.
After lunch, we went to a shop nearby, and bought some more things. These things were just some tools (ratchet screwdrivers & wrenches; and loads of bits for on top of these screwdrivers) and some foil for under the car, so we don’t leak on the ground.
Since we had forgotten our small portable fuel-tank, we went back home, immediately took off again, and went to some gas station. There, I did fill the small tank up. As I was filling it up, I asked myself, what the gas would look like, as it comes out of the hose. So I slowly pulled it out (while gas was running) with the intention to just take a quick peak. Turns out, I did pull it out too far, and then juiced all over my left hand and leg. hahaha
The worst part is, that the smell didn’t really leave the clothes. So now my (new) working jacket, and a new pair of sports pants smell like (bad) gasoline. Also, my shoes. I did wash them, but we’ll see tomorrow, after it all dries up.
Anyway, back at home, we checked the spark plugs. All of them worked, but we still replaced one of them, since it was kinda rusty.
After that, we went back to the fuel-tank. We then removed some parts, so now the fuel-pump, and the fuel-filter are now exposed. This was actually really hard (and fun). We had a huge fight with a stuck, rusted screw. Turns out, if you use a leaver which is like 80cm long, you have quite a lot of force.
So then in the end, we did break the screw, but the thing it was holding (which we wanted to remove) came off. So now, this screw is a problem for future us. Good!
And once we were done with that, we didn’t really had any more time nor could we really do anything more, since we wanted to clean out the fuel-tank, change the fuel-pump and fuel-filter. So then, we did clean up all the things, and then it was already time for dinner.
For dinner, we had Raclette. Which is always nice, but tomorrow I’ll probably have a stomach ache. And after dinner, Jordan and I ordered some more parts for the car. (These were just the before mentioned as well as some more relays.)
Then, I spent some time on YouTube and then took a (long) shower. And now I’m writing (to) you.
As I was writing (to) you, I did get a like on hinge. So now I’m gonna check this out, and then tomorrow, I’ll see you again. Take care & Bye-Bye!
It was fun working with Jordan. So I guess it was a good thing we bought the car. Funnily enough, he was kinda disappointed, since he expected us to have the car running today lul.
I’m gonna predict, we need like 1-2 more days. (If the problem is (as we now believe) in the fuel pump / fuel line, since we kinda tested it.)
But yeah – I think we both had a good day, all though I was really tired.
