Hi! Today I woke up really early (at like 7:30) even though, I went to bed kinda late. And I was still really tired. So I took a quick gander at my phone, wrote some texts, and then forced myself back asleep. (I had a hard time falling back asleep.)

The 2nd time, I woke up ~3.5 hours later. I then spent the next few hours doing some administrative work for volleyball. This took way too long. All in all about 3 hours.
Some time ago, I payed upfront for some of the things we bought as a team, (hoodies and shirts). Like a normal person, I hoped that they would pay me back. But they didn’t. So I sent out a few texts and shit. Turns out, if all pay up, I get about 500.- Nice! Money, I didn’t know I had.

Then, for the rest of the afternoon, I did start coding for my bachelors thesis. Today, I coded the part, which splits up the falko-MERLIN dataset into three categories. 1. Whole sentence is correct; 2. All mistakes in the sentence are real-world errors; 3. At least one mistake was a non-real-world error.
Then, category 3 gets thrown out, and we have 2 categories left.
That’s already all. lul.

In the future (maybe tomorrow) I’ll fine tune BERT (or a similar thing for German language) to detect this kind of mistakes. And then this fine-tuned-BERT would get evaluated. This would then be like half of my bachelors thesis. (At least the practical part.)
The 2nd half is: Synthetic dataset generation, (with methods, which currently aren’t known to me yet). And then fine tune another (new) BERT, and see how this BERT changes with synthetic data. Then, Analyze the difference(s).
This is all the practical things I have to do.
Then, only write this down in a paper, and submit. Done!

Anyway, today I did the first half of Part 1. (Which in the end is like 15% of the practical part.)

Then, it was already time for dinner. We had fondue.
After dinner, I had volleyball practice. We were only 5 people (2 just didn’t come…). And let me tell you, I’ve had my worst practice since a long time. But no biggie. Shit happens. lul. All in all, practice wasn’t good either, but happens.
(Actually, failed hard during one game, so my mate was throwing the ball at me (in a joking manner, but still kinda hard) and by loads of bad luck, it went straight into my balls. I didn’t have any defensive reaction, since I didn’t see him throw the ball… But yeah, it only hurt for like 5 minutes. Super cool! haha)

After the training, I went back home & finished what I started. So part 1 is most definitely done. Maybe, de spaghettify the code a little, and turn it into functions, but this would only take like 15 minutes.

After that, I brushed my teeth, and now I’m writing (to) you. That’s about all I did today.

Also, I did get a match on Hinge. (I didn’t use it today, because, you know, of what I told you yesterday.) The match is maybe just a pity-like, since I did ask her where this one pic was taken (since the background looked really cool), and I had already told her, she could un-match right there after.
But she did answer my question, and also added some small-talk info to her message. So now I gotta answer her.
But it’s not all bright and shiny here. First, she’s French-speaking (technically no biggie, since I do speak a little French); but more importantly, she has written “figuring out my dating goals”, which is whack. You know. Other than that, it seems good.
