Hello! Today was another day, let me tell you. Not that interesting though hehe.

It was a classic Monday. Wake up -> go to uni for AI & ML seminar.

Today’s paper was about inductive and transductive learning. More precisely: They fine-tuned llama to solve few-shot problems (these are problems, where you get a few examples, and then apply the observed rule on a new thing – pretty much exactly like IQ-tests.)
And what does inductive or transductive mean? Inductive means, that they told the LLM to create a python-function, which solves the problem.
Transductive means, that they told the LLM: Just give us the answer, without any reasoning.

They then found out, that these different methods are good on different kinds of questions. Kinda similar to you solving math problems by exact computation (inductive) and then writing an essay, is more like just winging it (transductive).

Also, the best method was if they combined both LLM’s. Not really surprising, since if they solve different problems, they are better, if each solves the problem which it can.

Then, after this was over, I went back home, ate a little, & did some nothing-work (some non-important things for volleyball (looking how other teams were in the last games that they had) and then some sudokus). But let me tell you, my head did hurt – actually since yesterday. I suspected, that I might get ill. So I took some vitamin C pills, and went to bed. It was actually some good sleep!

Once I was back up again, it was time for dinner. And after dinner, we had volleyball practice.
The practice wasn’t that great. We had no setter, but were 11 people. So we ended up playing 5 vs 6 for about one hour. (Before that, we did some serve-reception and out-of-the-system-sets.)

After practice, we went back home (obviously), I watched a YouTube video (from A GoodwinTV) and solved one more sudoku – which I couldn’t solve in the afternoon.

Actually, just before, I wrote Diana, to ask if Caroline is single. (I just asked, if she could help me out a little, so I’m gonna ask tomorrow, since she didn’t answer yet…) But that whole thing is now in motion. So hopefully, I can tell you some good news tomorrow!
